Citrus fruits like lemons and oranges are a big no-no when it comes to feeding bearded dragons. These fruits are high in citric acid, which can be harmful to the digestive system of bearded dragons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It can also cause an upset stomach and diarrhea, leading to dehydration. In addition, the high sugar content of citrus fruits can lead to obesity and other health problems in bearded dragons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Avocado<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
While avocado is a healthy food for humans, it is toxic to many animals including bearded dragons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Avocado contains persin which can cause heart failure, respiratory distress and other serious conditions in your pet reptile. Even the smallest amount of avocado can harm your beardie, so always avoid feeding them this fruit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Spinach and Other High Oxalate Foods<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Although spinach is known as a superfood for humans due to its high nutritional value, it’s not recommended for bearded dragon salads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Spinach contains a high amount of oxalates that can bind calcium and prevent its absorption by the body, leading to metabolic bone disease and other health problems. Other foods that contain high oxalates include parsley, beet greens and rhubarb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Processed or Sugary Foods<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Beardies should never consume processed or sugary foods such as candy bars or potato chips. Such foods can quickly lead to obesity and other health issues such as fatty liver disease which could shorten their lifespan significantly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
